Why we exist

Victory Christian Center exists to help people know Jesus, grow in His Word, and live empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about building strong disciples, strengthening families, and equipping believers to become ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. Through biblical teaching, authentic worship, and genuine community, our mission is to see lives transformed and to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to our community, our region, our state, and the world.

We believe our greatest days are still ahead. Our vision is to dig wells of revival through passionate prayer, bold soul-winning, intentional discipleship, and the uncompromised teaching of God's Word. We are committed to building strong families, raising up Kingdom ambassadors, and equipping every generation to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that Victory Christian Center will be a place of refreshing, healing, hope, and life-changing encounters with God—a place where people from across Southeast Iowa come to experience His presence and are sent out to impact the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Story

Church History

Foundation work for the Victory Christian Center building

Every church has a beginning, and ours is a testimony of God's faithfulness.

Victory Christian Center was founded in 1999 by Rev. Mike McAfee, who answered God's call to establish a Spirit-filled, Bible-believing church in Columbus Junction, Iowa. From the very beginning, the vision has been simple: proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach God's Word without compromise, and help people experience the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit.

Our first services were held in the basement of the Columbus Motel. As the church grew, we moved into the old car wash across from Economart before later holding Sunday evening services at the Free Methodist Church in Columbus City. God faithfully opened each new door as the ministry continued to grow.

One memorable moment in our history came in 1999 when the Columbus Gazette announced that a Full Gospel church in the area had closed. Directly beneath that story was the advertisement for Victory Christian Center's very first service—a beautiful reminder that while one chapter was ending, God was already beginning another.

One of the greatest testimonies of God's provision came when Victory Christian Center had no physical location and no opportunity to purchase land. After helping our first missionary purchase property for his ministry use, God miraculously provided the land where our church now stands. It remains a lasting testimony that faithful obedience is always met by God's faithfulness.

In January 2023, Rev. Jeremy and Trish Mills became the Lead Pastors of Victory Christian Center. Today, we continue building on that strong foundation of faith. Our passion remains the same—to see people encounter Jesus, grow in His Word, be empowered by the Holy Spirit, strengthen their families, and become ambassadors of the Kingdom of God.

More than two decades later, Victory Christian Center continues to reach our community, our region, our state, and the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Meet our Pastor

Lead Pastor

Pastor Jeremy Mills

Pastor Jeremy Mills is a third-generation minister with a passion for God's Word and advancing the Kingdom of God through preaching, worship, and the power of the Holy Spirit. He believes the hope of the world is Jesus Christ and is committed to helping people know Him, grow in His Word, and walk in His purpose.

Jeremy has served in a variety of ministry roles, including Associate Pastor at Faith Chapel in Arlington, Texas; Senior Pastor of Abundant Life Chapel in Dows, Iowa; ministry staff at The Wisdom Center in Fort Worth, Texas; and seven years alongside his wife, Trish, as ministry staff and worship leaders at Miracle Bethel Church in Lafayette, Indiana.

Today, Jeremy and Trish serve as the Lead Pastors of Victory Christian Center in Columbus Junction, Iowa, where they are passionate about building strong families, making disciples, and seeing lives transformed through Jesus Christ.

Originally from Arlington, Texas, Jeremy now resides in Winfield, Iowa, with Trish and their three children.

Pastor Jeremy's greatest desire is to see people love God's Word, live God's Word, and experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.
